THE FAB FAUX: THE BEATLES- ALL TOGETHER & THE SOLO YEARS

1735 views 5 Comments

We joined our friends to see the Fab Faux show of a lifetime at The State Theater in New Brunswick on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at 8 pm. The program was a rare combination of The Beatles- All Together and Solo Years.  The Hogshead Horns and the Crème Tangerine Strings, along with Erin Hill and Jim Boggia provided the perfect accompaniment.

If the Beatles could see the energy, passion, excitement and love that the Fab Faux infuse their music with, we imagine they would enjoy the show as we did.  See the setlist and know that each song lived up to the Faux high standard of, “just so.”

Bass Player Will Lee is a stand-out in the band for his performance, and his groovy moves to heighten the momentum.  He is always impeccably dressed in a ‘60s flavored outfit.   Most people know his face from his work on The David Letterman Show.

Favorite moments of the evening:  “Nowhere Man,” “Please Please Me,” “What Is Life,” “I’m Looking Through,” “Jet,” and “Imagine.”

We left the theater feeling that the Faux still have got “IT.”  That magic that makes us forget reality,  smile, and step a little lighter.

Life can be beautiful, if you let it, as their friend and ours, Sid Bernstein would say.

See the Fab Faux if you can.

This group is one of the best interpreters of the Beatles work-as the group as a whole and their individual solo performances. Maureen’s reviews alway capture the magic that occurs at their concerts. For the many who never was able to see the Beatles in their brief moment of time can now get an idea of what that experience was like by going to a Fab Faux performance.

Awesome Maureen. Thank you for reminding me I introduced you to the music of the FAB FAUX…in Easton I believe. And from the moment you first showed me your early ‘writings’ in New Jersey, I remember saying to myself…and then to you, that you MUST get back into doing it!!!..and then Sid and all. I could not be happier for you that you took the steps you did to ‘Get Back’ to where you once belong in the music world…your truest most honest deepest passion! I remember the first time I saw them in Red Bank…it was only their 10th show in their history, which included, I believe, 1 or 2 private parties, so it was very early on their career. They opened with ‘Everybody’s Got Something To Hide Except For Me And My Monkey’. 3 notes into that song, I knew this was going to be good..so much better than the ‘outfit’ groups I was used to seeing..and much frustrated with (save for 1964)….and it blew me away! I proceeded to see them 28 more times! Over the last 5-6 years or so I took a break from it, mostly due to several personal set backs. But now, especially after seeing these video’s and feeling your own excitement, I am ready to Get Back to seeing them once again! I think they are coming to Easton again next year….let’s you and Franco and Kaya and Rob and I & Britney and maybe even Gary and Carol, make it happen! I’ll be in touch! Love you my friend!
